Today's "Spaced Out" selection is a suite from John Barry's score for the 1979 film 'Starcrash'. This movie was one of the many 'Star Wars' rip-offs which came out after the success of George Lucas's 1977 film. Why John Barry, whose scores for the James Bond series earned him much acclaim, contributed his talents to this unintentionally bad space opera is anyone's guess. Along with the 1979 film 'Black Hole', 'Starcrash' marks one of the composer's rare contributions to the sci-fi genre. Interesting.
