I'm not exactly sure what is taking place in this scene by Italian painter Antonio Piatti. Does "Rose and Thorn" refer to the bush on the right, or might the title be referring to the man and woman, somehow commenting on their relationship? Who knows. It's a hard for me to judge whether she's pulling away for him or if she's nuzzling closer. Perhaps he's comforting her after she received a prick from the thorny bush.
Nonetheless, this painting is very pleasing to the eye. I like the muted brown tones.
