Increased O'Hare Traffic Overhead

We live in the North Park neighborhood of Chicago. Over the past several years, ORD, located about 9 miles directly west of us, has brought in new runways which have introduced airline traffic over our skies. It personally doesn't bother me--not yet anyway--but a few of our neighbors are concerned about the noise and have FAiR Coalition signs of their yards.

A majority of these flights are inbound, and if one were to sit on our back patio on clear day, you'd probably hear and spot a plane every 90 seconds. Some of these planes are really low, and if we're at our friend's house a couple miles west in the Sauganash neighborhood, those inbound planes are so low that you can read the text on the exterior. Wow.

We have it easy though, relatively speaking. Folks directly west of ORD, around Itasca and surrounding communities, have been enduring the noise from outbound planes for quite a while now, and it's so loud for them that some homes require soundproofing.

Anyway, here are some photos I took last night from our backyard.
