Alright, I’m probably going to get some flak for what I’m about to say, but this seems like an appropriate date to announce that I have never identified with the craze surrounding Star Wars. Sure, I understand the cultural impact of these movies and how a majority of people regard them as signifying a special part of their childhood, but I find myself just unable to care about any of it, which I guess somehow makes me come off as a real downer when surrounded by Star Wars enthusiasts. To be totally honest, it wasn’t until 3 years ago that I actually watched the original trilogy, and aside from Empires Strikes Back I found the series to be run-of-the-mill action fodder with groundbreaking special effects--surely nothing to go apeshit about. I just don’t get it. As a kid I loved anything related to Star Trek, especially the original series, motion pictures, and misc animated bullshit, but something about Star Wars never clicked with me. Maybe it just wasn’t meant for me to understand.
