One recent development with Colin is his insisting on using a real fork for his food as opposed to picking it up with his hands. Not only is this a neat milestone, but it also allows us to enjoy our dinner since he's spending time individually spearing each item on his plate instead of stuffing it all down and then squirming in his seat for us to let him out to play. Really, his wanting to use a fork is actually quite nice! We've even seen him balance a single pea on his fork while carefully lifting it up to his mouth. It's really kind of sad though when that pea happens to fall off and down onto the floor, but those are the breaks.
But man, this boy does not like green beans. He can recognize them by both sight and taste, and when encountered with one he immediately tosses it to the floor, usually while saying, "Uh-oh!" Yeah, Uh-oh, like how did all these green beans suddenly appear on the floor, Colin?
Anyway, I just thought this was a cool item to make note of.
And for those who were wondering, I indeed made a reference to Conan the Barbarian in this entry's subject line. This past weekend I picked up a copy of Conan King-Size Annual No. 1, with a beautiful cover by Barry Windsor Smith, so as of late the celebrated pulp hero has been on my mind. :)
